He is a consultant Endocrinologist attached to National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
He was trained in Endocrinology at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and St
Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK. He has many publications in peer reviewed
journals and he is actively involved in formulation of national and regional guidelines
in the field of Diabetes and Endocrinology. He has written a chapter in Endocrinology
for a Cambridge University Press text book. He was the 2017/2018 President of Sri
Lanka College of Endocrinologists. He actively involved in activities of South Asian
Federation of Endocrine Societies. He is the current Chairman of the Sri Lanka
Diabetes Federation(SLDF) and current secretary of South Asian Federation of
Endocrine Societies(SAFES).

Thilagavathiyar Girls Home is situated in Kathiraveli which is more than 75Km away from Batticaloa Town. This is one of the very remote area, there are many other villages far interior from the main road and mostly aborigines are living in those villages, there are no proper road facility for some villages. Girl children from those far villages are housed in this home and assisted for education. On this day we have conducted an awareness program on the importance of education and also to develop their vision on future ambition and the path to achieve same. We have also provided School Bags and education materials to those children
Development officer from the Divisional Secretariat and the Leo Club of Batticaloa also participated in this event

Fr. Mariyanayagam Orphanage was established by Rev. Fr. Mariyanayagam under the Catholic Church Mission and Rev. Fr. died many years back while he tried to save a girl drowned in the sea, girl was saved but he drowned. This orphanage is situated in a poor village and catering schooling children, we the Lions Club of Batticaloa and Leo Club of Batticaloa jointly celebrated the Children Day with the inmates of this Home and provided them with school bags, education materials and cloths to them
Kathiaveli village is situated in between Vaharai & Verugal in which poorest of the poor are living, base on the request of the Divisional Secretary of that area we have supported to the elders with saree's, bed sheets and sarongs. A Developmet Officer from the Divisional Secretariat, Leo Club of Batticaloa and the Rural Development Society members participated in this event.
International Children Day was organized with the Eastern University medical students and Leo Club of Batticaloa at the University pediatric unit in the Teaching Hospital Batticaloa. The director, higher officials, Nurses, medical students and Doctors gave fullest support in making this event a success, More than 200 children in ward and regular clinic patients from 3 pediatric wards participated in this programme.
