On 13th September 2025, the Lions Club of Colombo Continental Excellence – Region 01 organized a special service project at the starting point of the Delkanda Bodhimalu Viharaya, coinciding with the District Governor’s visit to Saman Dewalaya Vandana. The project, titled “Distribution of Dry Ration Packs to Needy Families,” was carried out with the objective of uplifting underprivileged families struggling to meet their daily needs and to strengthen the spirit of service within the community.
During this initiative, five dry ration packs were distributed, benefiting five individuals together with their six family members. The funding for the dry rations was generously provided by Lion Chaminda Ukwatta, who dedicated this act of service in celebration of his birthday on 12th September. This meaningful gesture transformed a personal milestone into a moment of compassion, reflecting the true values of Lionism.
The project, valued at LKR 7,500/=, was successfully completed with the participation of three Lions members, who contributed a total of six Lion hours. This timely support provided essential relief to families facing severe financial hardship and strengthened the bond between the Lions movement and the community, truly embodying the Lions Clubs International motto, “We Serve.”
