Under the leadership of Project Chairpersons Lion Niwantha Kosgoda and Lion Lady Irosha Edirisinghe, the Lions Club of Maharagama Golden City successfully carried out a large-scale Vision Service Project at Lunugamwehera Village on 30th August 2025. With the aim of restoring clear sight and enhancing the daily lives of underprivileged villagers, a dedicated project team, along with five professional opticians, departed from Colombo on 29th August 2025 at 11.00 a.m. They spent three days in Lunugamwehera to serve the community with care and commitment. During this period, 3,000 needy individuals were provided with reading spectacles, ensuring that they regained the ability to read, work, and carry out day-to-day activities with ease. Alongside the distribution, the project team also extended hospitality by offering breakfast to all recipients. The overall value of the project, covering traveling, accommodation, meals for three days, and the cost of spectacles, amounted to Rs. 1,519,900. This impactful service was graced by the presence of Region Advisor Lion Nimal Premananda as the Chief Guest, who commended the Lions for their generosity and dedication in uplifting the vision health of thousands. This project not only improved eyesight but also brought new hope and confidence to the lives of many, standing as a true testament to the Lions’ motto: “We Serve.”
