The Lions Club of Maharagama Golden City, under the leadership of Project Chairperson Lion Pradeep Sandaruwan, successfully carried out a meaningful project titled “Uplifement of Education and Literacy” on the 25th of July 2025 at the Nugegoda Public Library. With a strong commitment to enhancing knowledge and supporting young learners, the project served 75 beneficiaries.
The initiative included the distribution of valuable resources such as new library books worth Rs. 125,000 and used library books worth Rs. 75,000, thereby enriching the library’s collection and promoting a culture of reading. Additionally, stationery items and exercise books amounting to Rs. 150,000 were provided to students, ensuring they had the necessary tools for their studies.
Recognizing the importance of holistic support, the project also included the provision of a nutritious breakfast meal and transportation facilities worth Rs. 100,000. To further encourage and appreciate the students, gifts valued at Rs. 35,000 were distributed.Total rs.485.000.00
This impactful program, graced by the Chief Guest, Region Chairperson Lion Jayathissa Hettiarachchi, reflected the Lions’ dedication to fostering education and literacy, while also uplifting the lives of children through care, knowledge, and encouragement.
