On August 16, 2025, a significant environmental service project was carried out in Kuruwita, where 50 trees were planted as part of the club’s commitment to protecting the environment and contributing to climate action.
The project was funded and chaired by Lion Aruna Kankanamge, Zone Chairperson of Zone 02, Region 01, and conducted by the Colombo Continental Excellence Club (CCC). A total of 04 participants actively engaged in this initiative, dedicating 30 Lion Hours to its success.
The project brought multiple benefits including improving air quality, reducing carbon dioxide, preventing soil erosion, conserving water, and supporting biodiversity by providing habitats for wildlife. It also raised community awareness on the importance of sustainability while aligning with Lions International’s global commitment to protecting the environment. This meaningful initiative stands as a long-term contribution towards creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.
