Description

As a Buddhist country,we celebrate katina month from October Poya day to November Poya day. During this period all the temples organise Katina pinkamas where we pay homage to the Katina cheewaraya prior to handing over to the Maha Sangha. The club was able to arrange such a programme at the Welikada Prison where there around 3,500 prisoners which enabled them to pay homage. The chhewaraya was taken in procession to the prison where several members were present including the Zone Chairman Lion Imran. It should be mentioned here that we were not allowed to take photos of the prisoners paying their respect to the katina cheewaraya. There were several prison officials who participated
