The project “Waves of Hope” was successfully conducted on 30th December 2025, from 12.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., as a humanitarian relief initiative organized by the Lions Club of Homagama Supreme. This project was initiated in response to the severe flooding that affected several communities, leaving many families struggling to meet their basic needs.
The primary objective of the project was to provide immediate relief to flood-affected individuals by collecting and donating essential supplies. Accordingly, dry rations, dry food items, drinking water bottles, and other necessary relief materials were gathered through the collective efforts of the club members. The DIL Foods (Pvt) Ltd premises served as the official collection center, ensuring systematic coordination and secure handling of donated items.
All collected relief supplies were officially handed over to TV Derana, enabling efficient and timely distribution to the affected areas. Through this collaboration, the project aimed to reach over 1,700 flood-affected individuals, offering vital support to families facing hardship and displacement due to the floods.
A total of 15 members of the Lions Club of Homagama Supreme actively participated in the project with Non Lions and their family memebers, contributing their time, effort, and dedication toward its success. The total value of the donations collected under this initiative amounted to LKR 850,000.00, reflecting the strong commitment of the club toward community service and humanitarian assistance.
The project was carried out under the capable leadership of Project Chairman Lion Rohitha Wijesinghe, whose guidance and coordination ensured the smooth execution of all project activities. “Waves of Hope” stands as a meaningful service initiative that embodies the spirit of Lionism by extending compassion, hope, and practical support to communities affected by natural disasters.
