Project Nourish – Flood Emergency Meal Distribution was successfully carried out on 28th November 2025, from 12.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m., as a humanitarian relief initiative organized by the Lions Club of Homagama Supreme. The project was implemented in response to the severe flooding that affected the Walpita area, causing significant hardship to residents who were struggling to meet their basic daily needs.
The primary objective of this project was to provide immediate food assistance to flood-affected individuals and families. Accordingly, cooked meals and food parcels were donated and distributed to those most in need. Special attention was given to identifying vulnerable persons who were directly impacted by the floods and required urgent support.
A total of 75 flood-affected beneficiaries were served during this project, ensuring that essential nutritional needs were met during this difficult period. The distribution process was conducted in an organized and compassionate manner, maintaining dignity and fairness for all recipients.
The project was implemented with the active participation of 03 members of the Lions Club of Homagama Supreme, whose collective effort ensured the smooth execution of the initiative. The total project expenditure amounted to LKR 60,000.00, which was utilized efficiently for the preparation and distribution of meals and food parcels.
This meaningful humanitarian project was chaired by Project Chairperson Lion Rohitha Wijesinghe, whose leadership, coordination, and dedication played a vital role in the successful planning and execution of the initiative.
Project Nourish – Flood Emergency Meal Distribution stands as a strong reflection of Lionism in action, highlighting the club’s commitment to serving humanity and responding promptly to community needs during times of crisis.
