The Lions Club of Colombo Diamonds organized a community medical camp with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and creating awareness about lifestyle-related diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. The program was conducted to provide free blood pressure and blood sugar testing to the general public, with special attention given to elders and economically disadvantaged individuals.
The medical camp was supported by Medical Staff, and Lions Club Members, who ensured accurate testing and smooth coordination. Participants were registered, screened, and counseled individually. Based on the test results, offered basic medical advice, dietary guidance, and recommendations for follow-up treatment where necessary.
Through this initiative, many participants were able to identify health risks at an early stage, which is crucial in preventing serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems. Educational guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle—such as balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, and routine health check-ups—was also shared.
The medical camp received a positive response from the community and reflected the Lions Club’s strong commitment to humanitarian service and community well-being. The project stands as a meaningful step toward building a healthier society and aligns with the Lions Club’s mission of service above self.
