Under the leadership of District Governor Gaya Upasena, the Lions Club of Nugegoda Legacy conducted a Maternal Care Initiative in Gothatuwa following severe flooding caused by the Dithwa Cyclone. In coordination with the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), approximately 680 pregnant mothers were identified as affected. From this group, 35 of the most vulnerable mothers were selected based on urgent need. The club distributed essential maternity care packs to support them during childbirth. This project provided timely humanitarian assistance, reduced financial and emotional stress, and ensured better preparedness for safe delivery during a critical period.
