1. Project Overview & Objectives "Project Feed Hope Phase II" was an extension of the Leo Lions Club of Colombo Uptown Eminence’s ongoing commitment to community welfare, shifting the focus to human relief. The primary objective was to support underprivileged individuals and families facing severe economic hardship by providing them with warm, freshly prepared meals. The initiative aimed to address immediate food insecurity, promote community solidarity, and instill a strong sense of civic responsibility and empathy among the club’s youth members. 2. Execution & Activities The project was executed on April 3, 2026, across carefully selected public sectors within the Colombo area where economic vulnerability is high. The core activity involved the procurement of ingredients, preparation of hygienic and nutritious food, and direct distribution to those in need. The process included: - Identifying and mapping out local areas with high concentrations of underprivileged individuals and families. - Sourcing, cooking, and packaging warm, high-quality meals. - Mobilizing club members for direct, respectful, and organized distribution on the ground. - Club members actively engaged with the community during the distribution, ensuring the meals were handed out with dignity and care. 3. Leadership & Participation The initiative was driven by the active membership and the Board of Directors of the Leo Lions Club of Colombo Uptown Eminence. The hands-on leadership demonstrated by the board members provided a strong example for the club's youth volunteers, reinforcing the importance of active, ground-level service. This collaborative effort further strengthened the operational unity and logistical capabilities of the club’s membership. 4. Outcome & Impact The project successfully delivered a tangible contribution to human welfare within the Colombo area. By equipping volunteers to combat food insecurity directly, the club provided immediate, comforting relief to numerous individuals facing daily struggles. Furthermore, the initiative elevated the club’s community presence, demonstrated its capacity to execute multi-phase relief operations within a tight 30-day window, and reinforced a culture of deep social responsibility. 5. Alignment with Values "Project Feed Hope Phase II" strongly reflected the club’s motto: "Lead. Serve. Uplift." It aligned with core Leo and Lions values by providing Leadership opportunities in mobilizing community relief, delivering direct Service to vulnerable populations, and seizing the Opportunity to uplift the human spirit through compassion and tangible support.
