To address rehabilitation needs at Welikada Prison, the Lions Club of Elvitigala Victory Eminence constructed a vocational training centre. The facility provides inmates with marketable skills to support successful reintegration into society.. Constructed dedicated training rooms and workstations within the prison. Coordinated with Department of Prisons for compliance and handover. The main benefits are it gives them a second chance . Equips inmates with skills for employment, reducing recidivism. Shifts inmates from idleness to productive activity, improving mental health and prison discipline.Skilled ex-offenders are more like to rejoin society as contributors, not dependents.Long Term impact is it is a permanent facility serving thousands of inmates annually. This centre transforms of confinement into a place of opportunity. By investing in skills and dignity, we break the cycle of poverty and crime. The project reflects Lions' commitment to "We Serve" and to uplifting the marginalized. It should be mentioned that as a rule and regulation of the Prison authorities we were not allowed to take photos. Chief Guest was District Governor Gaya Upasena.
