Description

As Global Service Chairperson of the Lions Club of CCA, GST Coordinator Lion Dr. W. L. Chamila Priyadarshani conducted an environmental field assessment and groundwater quality audit at the historic Ritigala Forest Monastery in collaboration with post-doctoral researcher Dr. Vindya Hewawasam (former lecturer at Sophia University and the University of Tsukuba, Japan). KEY SERVICE DELIVERABLES: 1. GROUNDWATER TDS AUDITS: Performed on-site Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) baseline testing on natural well water within the Ritigala forest ecosystem to establish environmental purity benchmarks against rural agricultural water supplies. 2. HYDRAULIC HERITAGE ANALYSIS: Evaluated the Banda Pokuna ancient stone reservoir system to document how stepped perimeter geometry passively dissipates kinetic runoff energy without structural degradation. 3. RESEARCH & PUBLIC HEALTH ADVOCACY: Synthesized findings into a public environmental literacy campaign linking ancient water management (Wari Urumaya) with modern groundwater protection and chronic disease prevention (SDG 6 & 15).
